Annual Maui Open Studios Events

Free Self-Guided Tours of Artist Studios and Exhibition Spaces Islandwide

Our MOS Event – February/March

MOS stands for “Maui Open Studios”. The MOS event features self-guided tours of artist open studios and exhibitions spaces islandwide and are free for the public to attend.

The art-loving, art-buying public are invited to enjoy one-on-one interactions with the artists and have the opportunity to learn about what inspires them, talk story, and purchase art directly from the artists themselves. Artist venues can range from gallery settings, home studios, outdoor venues, and other alternative exhibition spaces. Many artists serve refreshments, some give live demonstrations, and some may even have live music.

Online artist directories, Google maps, along with GPS, guide visitors to the artist studios and exhibition spaces around the island of Maui where the participating artists show. During the event, there are street signs directing you to artist locations. The event is a great opportunity for artists and art collectors to connect one-on-one with one another in interesting and inspiring environments.

*Note: At this time, West Maui artists will be showing on other parts of the island until the clearing and rebuilding efforts in West Maui are further along.

You’re invited to join us for 4 inspiring weekends in February/March

The MOS event includes a free festive Opening Celebration/Preview Exhibition, in addition to three weekends of self-guided tours of artist studios and exhibition spaces. Schedule to be announced in November.

Held at UHMC’s Pa’ina Culinary Arts Center, this festive kick-off evening for the winter event draws approximately 500 to 700 guests every year during the 3-hour duration. The Opening Celebration/Preview Exhibition is a great way to determine which artists to include in your self-guided tours on the following weekends.

Artists set up a display so guests can preview their artwork and portfolios, and interact with them. Some artwork is also for sale at the Opening. Not all registered artists will choose to be featured in this portion of the event, but we typically have about 60 artists who opt in every year.

Complimentary bottled water and live entertainment are featured along with the artists and their art. Food trucks offer their culinary treats outside of the venue. Printed guidebooks can also be picked up at the Opening as well. We love seeing everyone at our Opening Celebration/Preview Exhibition as it is always a fun, festive, and enjoyable evening.

Visit artists over 3 weekends when they open their studios and exhibition spaces for the public.
